Looking for a May half term family break? Check out what's on in and around Woolley!
Bradford on Avon, Bath, Longleat, Lacock and the beautiful Wiltshire countryside.
Potter down to historic Bradford on Avon, where you can hire bikes, canoes or a narrow boat and pedal, row or potter along the scenic canal towards Bath (10 miles away). Adventurers can replenish their energy stocks with a picnic from the hotel or enjoy one of the many cafes or pubs along the way.
There are also great walks in the rolling hills of the Wiltshire countryside and the beautiful parks of Bath. See some of our recommended local walks here.
Longleat Safari Park is not far from Woolley and we offer discounted tickets to this attraction, the UK’s no.1 safari park (please give us 24 hours notice). Young adventurers will be delighted to enter a land of adventure where lions roam, tigers stalk and monkeys swing.
Lacock Abbey and village are a National Trust delight and, if you like gardens, apart from our lovely14 acres, check out the National Trust 'The Courts' gardens in our neighbouring village of Holt.
What's on at Woolley
Back at the hotel, the Den team encourage children to be curious, active and adventurous. Fun things to do include collecting eggs from the chickens in Roald Dahl’s ‘Chicken House No 1’, exploring the hotel’s Good Life garden, petting Simon the rabbit and make a splash in the indoor pool and summer outdoor pool. There’s also a schedule of activities for families and older children. Have fun cooking with the hotel’s chef, mocktail making with the restaurant team, nail painting with the spa team, trying some glitter tattoos in the Den or marshmallow toasting in the woods.
Top tip: For those children who love four-legged friends there’s also an opportunity for children to have a ramble with Rex (the hotel’s dog). Just ask at reception.
