Times remain tough for many small local businesses, especially those who supply the catering industry. We are firm advocates of using local producers, recently winning Gold Taste of the West Awards, partly for our commitment to local sourcing. Here we share some of our fabulous local food and drink partners who would welcome your support.
The Woolley Grange Garden Basket Scheme
We start with our own gardening team, who have put so much work into growing produce for our kitchen that they were really pleased to already be running our weekly vegetable box scheme. The scheme allows us to supply local residents with freshly grown and freshly picked vegetables. Currently we are providing winter vegetables alongside salad packs (grown in our polytunnels) and supplemented by produce from other local growers: for example, Red Pippin apples from Stoneage Organics in Somerset.
When we have a glut of something, we work with local charity Crop Drop, who pick up excess produce to use in food parcels for local community organisations. Nothing goes to waste.
Hobbs House Bakery
We bake some bread in our own kitchens, but also rely on this lovely family bakery business. Established in the Cotswolds in the 1920’s they are now on their 6th generation of family bakers. Hobbs House believes that handmade bread should be available to everyone and produce an exceptional range of high quality breads, pastries and confectionery. Be warned - their online shop if full of the most mouth-watering goodies.
Taboo Choc supplies Woolley Grange with our own branded chocolate bars. Describing themselves as ‘the best type of bad’ their delicious chocolate is handmade lovingly in Wiltshire using 60% Colombian dark chocolate and all natural ingredients, handpacked in compostable packaging. We highly recommend the Rose & Pistachio. Yum!
A small, independent craft micro-brewery located in our very own little town of Bradford on Avon, Kettlesmith brew modern interpretations of a wide variety of beer styles and see beer as a serious alternative to wine at the dinner table.
Their beers are engaging, flavourful, complex and suitable for vegans. Buy online or try next time you come to the hotel.
